Pear has created a line of brilliant Pear Pods as an alternative to that other fruit. The Pear Pod is intended for the purely creative and imaginative forwarding thinking mind.
The musical PearPod is a portable music player with extended
functionality. It uses flash memory to build music libraries that can
be downloaded using the PToons software interface. Data storage capacity
is 320 GB. The PearPod is equipped with wireless Internet connectivity
and can handle not only music, but also photographs, videos, games,
calendars with contact information, email, e-books, television, and
radio reception (FM, AM, and satellite). The special mini-dish antenna
allows PearPod to receive satellite cable and a live pickup from all
camera-equipped NASA satellites.
Pear Pod is equipped with two high definition speakers and a subwoofer. The LCD screen measures 4x6 and can operate in normal or 3-D mode (no special glasses required). Like all Pear Phone products, the PearPod offers non-touch operation through built-in voice recognition and synthesis. The optional PearHealth module performs standard medical tests, such as pulse reading, blood pressure, CO2 concentration, alcohol level, and pregnancy testing.

new feature in 2010 is PearDefender accessory, which uses a special circuit to synthesize
the random barks and growls of a guard dog. Left at the front door, the motion-
and heat-sensitive adapter will generate increasingly vicious sounds to deter
would-be burglars and trespassers.
Pear Pod offers unique software that uses the built-in microphone to provide real-time music transcription and storage. The karaoke feature allows users to select a musical instrument to delete from playback – this allows instrumentalists to “play along” with any piece of music. An accessory wireless docking station is available, and the built-in 20 hour battery can be recharged by the sun. The Pear Pod looks great with a Pear Pod case.
